Prototype Build | Devlog
In the last build, we had a simple scene with player movement, including our roll mechanic, the bare bones of the combat system, and a simple AI that was able to detect the player and follow after them. For this build, we enhanced the AI to use a behavior tree based on the distance to the player. The AI can now come into range, attack the player, deal damage, and eventually kill the player. The player likewise can deal damage and kill the enemy.
As you can see we also have UI elements in the game now for both the player and enemies. Red is for health, blue is stamina, and purple is mana. We made numerous other adjustments and improvements on the backend for combat as well to help facilitate the added functionality. Additionally, we added beginnings of spells into this build, with a quick use projectile spell, that is currently aimed via the camera and a corresponding placeable trap spell. We worked on some other backend systems this week, like the save system, and lastly, we added some more sound effects.
That's all for this update, we hope you enjoyed it. You can currently download the newest build through the zip file linked. If you want to watch us play for a bit watch the video or visit our youtube page and subscribe for updates there are well.
